Using BIRD for Your Grades
Active students may phone BIRD (716-645-7800) to learn their grades for any UB semester. (To find out the earliest date when you can hear your grades after a semester is finished, go to calendars and look at May, August, and January.)
When you select "Grades" from the main BIRD menu and successfully pass the security check, BIRD will:
- Ask you to enter a semester using your Touchtone keypad (1 = spring, 6 = summer 9 = fall)
- Ask you to enter a 2-digit year (e.g. '99')
- Speak to you each course for the semester (departmental abbreviation, course number, course section, credit hours, grade)
- Speak the number of hours completed for that semester
- Speak the QPA for that semester
- Speak your total UB hours completed (both QPA and non-QPA hours) and any transfer hours you may have
- Speak your overall QPA for each division you may have enrolled at UB (undergraduate, graduate, professional)
- Ask if you wish to enter (another) semester (and continue to hear grades)
When you begin listening to this menu option, you hear "BIRD may not have complete grade information prior to 1987." This is because the University's academic records were maintained on both paper and electronic files prior to that time. If your record is older than 1987 and you believe the information on BIRD is incomplete, contact our office. We will update your electronic records from the paper files.
BIRD will not speak any degrees awarded or applied for because it was not designed to do so.
