BIRD Tips for Registration
These have been created from the phone calls to the BIRD Helpline in hopes that you can benefit from them and save yourself the phone call!
Use the BIRD worksheet (PDF) the first time you call.
BIRD was not intended to be used by persons who don’t know what they are expected to respond when BIRD prompts them. (But you only have to use a worksheet on your first call; after that, you’ll know what to do.)
Enter both the 6-digit registration number and the action code at the same time.
Without the action code, BIRD will not know if you want the course added or dropped! BIRD will wait a short period of time before a message will tell you that you need assistance and then politely hang up on you. If this happens, please try BIRD again.
If you are an Undergraduate student without an Approved Major, you will be asked to enter an Intended major during your first call of the semester.
Please enter an 8 digit Intended Major and BIRD will let you continue to registration.
BIRD will read your complete schedule to you if you ask.
In the initial BIRD menu, select “registration” (option 1); in the registration menu, select option 3 to hear your detailed schedule read. This option will give you the building, room, day and time of your class.
Listen to the checkstop resolution guidance provided.
If you hear that you have a checkstop, continue listening because the checkstop's office name, location, and phone number are all read to you to help you begin the process of resolving the reason for the checkstop.
