Tips for Using BIRD

The following tips have been compiled by our staff and are based on the most common reasons that students call our Helpline.

• Please remember your PIN. In the event that you forget your PIN, please call us at (716) 645-2450 or toll free at 1-866-838-7257 so we can reset your PIN for you.
• Please be sure to press the # key after you enter your SSN or Person Number. BIRD will not know when you are finished entering your ID number unless you do.
• Select a PIN that is different from your birthdate. BIRD will accept anything but the same initial PIN it provided; that's a protection for your privacy.
• It is very important to keep your PIN secret. No one in any university office can learn your PIN. When you call us, we don't know what it is, (we can only re-set it to your initial month-day PIN). It is therefore absolutely secure, unless you tell someone. Please do not tell anyone, not an advisor, department staffer, instructor, a best friend, a roommate, or significant other!
