Entrance Counseling

William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program

If you are a first-time borrower at UB (i.e. you have not previously received a Direct Subsidized, Direct Unsubsidized, Federal Stafford, Federal Unsubsidized Stafford, or Federal SLS while attending UB), you are required to receive entrance counseling information before any loan funds can be disbursed. This is a one-time requirement.

To complete the Entrance Counseling requirement:

Go To The Web - Visit the Direct Loan Web site Entrance Counseling Session. UB will retrieve the results within 48 hours of completion, or you may fax a copy of the two pages of the Entrance Counseling Quiz results to (716) 645-6566. You may verify receipt of entrance counseling completion within 48 business hours at (716) 645-2450. NOTE: After you have completed the Entrance Counseling Quiz, you will be asked to identify the school where the results should be sent. For UB, you must enter “State University of New York at Buffalo.”
