Nursing Student Loans
A Nursing Student Loan is a low-interest Federal loan offered to nursing majors (undergraduate 3rd and 4th year and eligible graduate students) who have filed a FAFSA by May 1 of the preceding academic year (e.g. May 1, 2009 for Fall/Spring 2009-10).
You must be at least a half-time student to be eligible.
Nursing loans are subsidized loan and do not accrue interest as long as you remain registered for at least 6 hours each semester. Interest begins to accrue at the rate of 5% annually 9 months after you graduate or drop below the six-hour registration requirement.
Repayment of the principal, together with accrued interest, will be required within a 10-year period, excluding any eligible periods of deferment.
