Federal Work-Study Program
The Federal Work-Study program provides employment opportunities in various offices on campus and in community service agencies. Federal Work-Study awards are offered to students with financial need. Students who qualify for the Federal Work-Study program at the University of Buffalo may select from a variety of jobs to meet their interests, skills, and career paths. Students are paid at an hourly rate and receive paychecks every two weeks for the hours worked. Federal Work-Study will not be credited to the student's account. Students are responsible for finding employment on campus.
Federal Work-Study eligibility is determined each year as a result of early application of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the financial need of a student. Funding level and number of positions are limited, so positions are not guaranteed from one year to the next.
To qualify for the Federal Work Study program you must have:
- Filed for your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1st
- Requested Federal Work-Study on the FAFSA
- Meet Income Guidelines
Once you have been offered Federal Work-Study and have accepted the award on BIRD: (appointment forms/information will be mailed mid August)
