Alternative Credit

In addition to credit awarded for courses transferred from other institutions, students may earn credit toward their university degree through proficiency examinations, military training, experiential learning and some non-collegiate based professional training. In some instances, this credit may shorten the time required to complete a degree. Additional information about alternative credit is available from the Student Advising Services, 109 Norton Hall.

Students should note that all approved alternative credit is elective credit unless articulated to specific UB courses or requirements. In such cases, alternative credit may satisfy a general education or major requirement. Alternative Credit is awarded on the basis of a score report or transcript sent at the student's request from the testing agency to the Office of Admissions at UB.
