Undergraduate Degree Application and Conferral

Only you know when you are ready to graduate from UB. Here are the most important things to know about finishing up your degree work.

Keep Track of Your Progress Towards Your Degree from Your First Day at UB

The best ways to do that is to review your DARS report regularly on MyUB and contact your advisor for a regular review of your program. (MFC students do not have DARS reports prior to 1999).

Make sure your transfer courses will be accepted at UB and will not duplicate UB courses. The best way to do that is to check TAURUS to see how your courses will transfer.

When to Apply

You should apply when you have completed at least 90 credit hours and will complete at least 120* credit hours prior to your selected conferral date.

* 150 credit hours minimum required for a double degree (i.e. BA/BS)

Deadlines
If you plan to graduate on: File your application by:
June 1 previous February 1
September 1 previous July 1
February 1 previous October 1

How to Apply

Complete the Application for Degree Form (PDF) and return it to the Student Response Center in 232 Capen. Double degree candidates (i.e. BA and BS, BA and BFA) must also submit the Application for Double Degrees (formerly Multiple Degrees) Form (PDF).

What Happens When You Apply for Degree Conferral

  • Degree Audit will notify your academic major(s) department(s) of your intention to graduate for the conferral date which you indicated to us.
  • Your degree status can be viewed in My Grades on MyUB (requires UBit name and password).
  • Your academic major(s) department(s) will inform us if you have met all departmental requirements for your major.
  • Check DARS to determine whether or not you have met University requirements (ie. General Education, Credits, Library Skills, etc.)
  • If you have met both the university requirements and the requirements for a major, your degree will be conferred on or shortly after the conferral date (June 1, September 1, or February 1). Your diploma will be mailed approximately 6 weeks from the conferral date.
  • If you have not met either the university requirements or the major requirements, you will be notified that you did not graduate. You will be asked to tell us in writing your new, future conferral date.

Please Note: It is important that all address information on your UB Record be kept up to date.

Who to Contact with Your Concerns

If you are not ready to apply for a degree evaluation, make an appointment with an undergraduate advisor. Review your DARS report and prepare questions about your intended academic program.

If you have applied for degree evaluation and have any questions at all about the status of your evaluation, call the Student Response Center at (716) 645-2450.
