Please visit the Fall 2009 Registration page for a complete list of registration dates, tools, policies and procedures.
Find out when you can register for Fall 2009 Classes
Registration for graduate and professional students begins Friday, March 20, 2009. Call BIRD (716) 645-7800 or sign onto Web Registration via MyUB (UBit name required) to register. BIRD and MyUB hours of operation are seven days a week, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Have you satisfied the Meningitis Education Requirement?
New York State Public Health law requires students to be educated about meningococcal meningitis disease and the available vaccine for that disease. UB is required to verify that all students carrying 6 or more credit hours have participated in meningitis education. Students over the age of 18 must access the online form (requires your UBit name and password), or you will be blocked from registering for classes. For UB students under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must complete the Meningitis Information Response Form.
Do you know that a Checkstop can prevent you from registering for classes?
When you call BIRD or access MyUB (UBit name required) for your registration window, any current checkstops (holds which will prevent your registration) will be identified. You cannot register with any checkstop against your record. It is important to clear your record of any checkstops before Friday, March 20, 2009. | Learn More About Checkstops.
Avoid Late Fees
- Continuing students (registered spring 2009) must register for fall 2009 by Friday, July 24, 2009 or you will have a $40.00 administrative fee and late payment fee added to your bill.
- New or re-entering students: you must register for fall 2009 before the first day of classes, Sunday, August 30, 2009, or have a $40.00 administrative fee added to your bill.
How to avoid class time conflicts
- If you must schedule classes on the North and South campuses, be sure to allow one hour between classes for travel time.
- If you must schedule classes on the North Campus Spine and Ellicott, please leave at least 30 minutes for travel time.
- Course instructors may refuse you entrance to the classroom after the start of the class hour.
How to get a printout of your Fall 2009 Schedule
You may print your schedule from your computer by accessing Web Registration on MyUB (UBit name required). A detachable copy of your schedule is also printed on you bill. If you register by phone, remember to ask BIRD to read your schedule back to you by pressing 7.
Force Registration
Departments may process drop/add registration online for students into department courses during the scheduled Force Registration period (after all of the registration windows have opened through the end of the second week of classes).
Exception Registration
This process is designed to accommodate exceptional registration circumstances for the student who needs to get in or out of a course but cannot do so on his/her own due to constraints or extenuating circumstances (e.g. not in a major, prerequisite taken by transfer work). See your academic department for assistance.
